Enlightenment

Bobby Porter and his father, Charles, have been estranged since Bobby and his mother left the alien-worshipping cult to which Charles still belongs. But Bobby wants to reconcile, and so he has arranged a meeting with his father. However, he is stunned when Charles arrives announcing the imminent arrival of aliens in the park next to Bobby's apartment. Which means the arrival of the entire cult, and its members, to within steps of Bobby's home. Hurt and feeling betrayed, Bobby needs to find a way to salvage his relationship with his father, while keeping both the cult and his anti-cult mother at bay and preventing his boyfriend from being drawn into the cult.

Enlightenment was workshopped in the Foothill College playwriting class, and received a staged reading at Foothill College in June, 2010.
